Overview
The Atomicato is the first guitar model from Kevin James Guitars, now entering serialized, small‑batch production. After years of prototyping and refinement, the Atomicato has settled into a consistent core design that balances bold aesthetics, playability, and tonal reliability. Each guitar is built start to finish by a single builder, blending precision machining with hands‑on craftsmanship to create an instrument that feels deliberate, balanced, and responsive
Builder-Choice Design
Every Atomicato is built on a consistent core platform: the body shape, neck profile, scale length, and main materials remain the same across all instruments. This ensures a familiar feel, balanced playability, and reliable tone from guitar to guitar.
Within that framework, finishes, pickups, and hardware are thoughtfully chosen for each instrument. Every Atomicato is a Builder’s Choice guitar — a unique combination of design, color, and materials selected by the builder to create a one-of-a-kind instrument. While no two guitars are exactly alike, every Atomicato maintains the same precision, setup standards, and playability you can rely on.
How It’s Built
Every Atomicato starts with carefully selected materials: solid mahogany bodies with maple caps and hard maple laminated necks, designed for stiffness, stability, and consistent playability. The process begins with careful precision measurements, and the body and neck — including the angled 8° headstock — are rough-shaped using CNC and other machining tools to maintain consistent dimensions.
Hand shaping and refinement follow, with every contour, bevel, and curve adjusted by eye and touch to create an instrument that feels balanced and alive in the player’s hands. The headstock angle, for example, is initially rough-shaped using a three-sided setup and then finalized by hand to guarantee both strength and playability.
This combination of precision tooling, thoughtful material selection, and dedicated handwork ensures that every Atomicato is not just built, but crafted — a guitar that performs consistently while retaining the subtle nuances that make it unique.
Design Philosophy
The Atomicato was created for players who carve their own path. Its bold, offset body design, thoughtful contours, and distinctive finishes reflect a balance of modern style and timeless playability. Every detail, from the 8° headstock angle to the careful selection of pickups and hardware, is intended to inspire confidence, spark creativity, and reward hands-on connection with the instrument.
The Atomicato embodies a philosophy of intentional variation: familiar enough to feel natural in the hands of a player, yet distinctive enough to stand out in the studio, on stage, or wherever music takes you.. Designed to handle everything from blues and indie to fuzzed-out grunge, shoegaze, and modern rock, the Atomicato gives players the versatility to express their unique sound while benefiting from precise feel and tonal balance.
Availability
Atomicato guitars are produced in limited, serialized runs, with finishes, hardware, and pickups selected for each instrument as a Builder’s Choice, resulting in a small number of completed guitars released over time.
Finished instruments are added to the store as they are completed, with each Atomicato assigned a unique serial number for traceability and identification. Production quantities are intentionally limited, allowing each guitar to receive the time, attention, and care required to meet consistent build and setup standards..
