Overview
I built that one.
The Atomicato is the first guitar model from Kevin James Guitars, now entering serialized small batch production. It took years of prototyping and refinement to get here — close to 400 versions of the master design file, and over 150 bodies of the same shape cut before the first numbered guitar left the shop. Each one is built start to finish by a single builder, combining precision machining with hands-on shaping, wiring, and setup.
This is not a fast guitar to make. That's the point.
Builder-Choice Design
Every Atomicato is built on a consistent core platform — the body shape, neck profile, scale length, and materials remain the same across all instruments. That consistency is intentional. It means every Atomicato plays and feels like an Atomicato regardless of what's on the surface.
Within that framework, finishes, pickups, and hardware are chosen — and sometimes made — specifically for each instrument. Every Atomicato is a Builder's Choice guitar. No standard configurations, no option packages. Each one is its own thing with its own serial number.
How It’s Built
Every Atomicato starts with carefully selected materials — solid mahogany bodies with maple caps and hard maple laminated necks chosen for stiffness, stability, and feel. The body and neck are precision machined using CNC to maintain consistent dimensions, including the 8° angled headstock that is rough shaped by machine and finished by hand.
Hand shaping and refinement follow every machined surface. Every contour, bevel, and curve is adjusted by eye and touch until it feels right — not just measured right. Some guitars leave the shop with pickups I wound myself, designed specifically for that instrument and that sound.
Not just built. Crafted.
Design Philosophy
The Atomicato was built for players who play with emotional intent. Warm thick rhythms. Leads that tell a story. Notes that hang and bloom. The kind of playing that captures an audience whether it's ten people on a sidewalk or twenty thousand in a stadium.
Every decision in this guitar — the pickups, the neck profile, the 8° headstock angle, the wiring — was made in service of that player and that moment. This is a guitar that gets out of your way and lets you say what you came to say.
Availability
Atomicato guitars are produced in small serialized runs. Finished instruments are added to the store as they are completed, each assigned a unique serial number. Production is intentionally limited — every guitar gets the time and attention it needs before it leaves the shop. No two are exactly alike. That's not a disclaimer. That's the whole idea.
